Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, I currently live in Staten Island New York with my wife Bernadette and close to my two adult daughters Stephanie and Lauren.
I was introduced to the world of plumbing at a very young age by my father Vincent. During school vacations I would ride along with him and witnessed firsthand the art of residential plumbing service and repair.
I attended a four year trade high school where I was introduced to a wide variety of mechanical trades which included duct fabrication, pipe fabrication, electrical diagnosis of oil fired heating systems and complete fabrication of residential heating systems which included steam, hot water and hot air.
Upon graduating high school I entered a community college to pursue a career as a commercial artist, but that came to an abrupt end when I was drafted into the U.S. Army in May of 1970. I served my military time stateside working as a plumber in the construction division of the 52nd Engineering Battalion located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Upon my discharge from service I entered back into the plumbing trade and worked for my Dad while attending New York City’s Mechanics Institute at night to study plumbing design.
I secured my Master Plumbers license in 1978 and that same year started my company Sessa Licensed Plumbing and Heating Inc. I’ve been a proud member of and have participated in numerous trade organizations over the years.
I grew from one service vehicle to three and employed a total of four people including myself. My core business was and still is the service and repair of residential plumbing and heating systems.
Aside from being an owner / operator I worked as a full time technician working hands on in the field daily solving real world plumbing issues.
I sold my company in 2004 to one of my employees and have since started Robert Sessa Plumbing a scaled down version of my former company which allows me to produced my videos and help those of you searching for reliable information on plumbing repair.
I see a variety of plumbing videos on the internet some of which are Hollywood produced and over simplified and some of which are just plain awful.
I produce my own videos which may not be as polished as I would like, but I guarantee you one thing. I’ll provide you with the same no nonsense real world solutions that have worked for me for the past 30 plus years.
I invite you to visit often and encourage you to contact me with any questions you may have about the world of plumbing repair.
